SCULPTCHAIRS

 

“Architects try to do two things in life,
Design a chair
Design a house

Well, here are some new chairs!
Variations of designs, these are experimental only to a degree, all have been tested initially in different ways and certified by time.

This is a project that started in 1975 and is long in museum collections including MOMA (New York).

They are being revived here to celebrate this new structural work and new space.

All made of European (Latvian) Birch plywood.
The twenty five percent larger models are suitable for outdoor placement.”

GEOMETRIC STRUCTURES

  • 1. Star Portal (Red)

    A rhombic dodecahedron combined with a cube, made with no metal or fasteners, held up by feet and contains an inner floor for meditation.

    A vector based solution of a double truncated cube that when expanded in 3D space includes cubes and truncated octahedrons.
